Children Services awards 2017 ‘Champions for Children’

 

Summit County Children Services, with support of its Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC), recently hosted the 8th Annual Community Appreciation Breakfast to recognize and thank volunteers, businesses, organizations and community leaders for their support of Summit County Children Services and the children and families in Summit County.  The slogan for this year’s Child and Family Awareness Month was “A Family is the Sunshine in My Day.”

INFO LINE 2-1-1 Referrals Now Available via Text Message

Info Line is making it easier for Summit County residents to find and access basic needs assistance by adding texting capability to its 2-1-1 information service. 2-1-1 OnDemand allows people to receive referrals for food and utility assistance via text so they don’t have to use valuable phone minutes. The service also helps free up Info Line’s 2-1-1 staff so they can spend time answering phone calls that are more in-depth.

Bridges “Getting Ahead” Grad Looks to a Bright Future

At 23 years old, Tia has been through a lot. Kicked out of her parents’ house shortly before her 18th birthday, she spent years in an abusive relationship, had three children and was homeless for much of 2015. Yet, despite the turmoil of her last few years, Tia is determined to make a better future for herself and her family.

“I’ve been trying to go to different programs, to see how to better my life,” she says. “To get out of the whole trapped feeling.”
