More rooms. More families. More hope. And Hard Hat Tours.

Ronald McDonald House of Akron extends their appreciation to all who have accepted their offer to attend a hard hat tour of its expanded facility in Akron, Ohio. Community members are encouraged to continue to schedule tours through the fall months.

Originally opened in 1985, the house has provided a supportive home-away-from home for families receiving medical treatment at Akron Children’s Hospital. The hospital has become the largest pediatric health care provider in Northeast Ohio. In 2016, Ronald McDonald House of Akron served over 12,000 people, but had to turn away more than 4,000 families.

Summit County Children Services’ Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) recently hosted its 7th Annual Community Appreciation Breakfast to recognize and thank volunteers, businesses, organizations and community leaders – as well as families served by the agency – for their support of children and families.

The Duvall Awards, established in 2008 through a partnership of Summit County Children Services, the Akron Police Department and Akron Children’s Hospital, honor the memory of the late Lt. John “Ed” Duvall, Jr. – who, while with the Akron Police Department, was both relentless in his investigations of child abuse cases and deeply committed to speaking out about child abuse prevention. Love Akron Connects Local Leaders in Prayer

sectors of the marketplace

The Love Akron Network hosts Love Akron Connect on the last Wednesday of every month. These prayer breakfasts bring communities members together to support each other.

Each breakfast is held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Akron and focuses on a different sector of the marketplace. In February, the focus was healthcare.  Love Akron invited employees from various healthcare-related organizations in the Akron area.
